Park Hyatt Marrakech is located in Al Maaden in the Ryad Al Maaden Medina and Golf Resort. The overlooks stunning views of the Atlas Mountains. It has c. 130 rooms including 69 luxury suites, and has a combination of local and international food & beverage options.

This hotel is one of the long-awaited properties in Marrakech. It has delayed its opening several times previously but is now ready to welcome guests. We had the opportunity for an exclusive visit of the property a few weeks before its soft opening. Thanks to our fantastic partners at Park Hyatt Marrakech for hosting us and giving us an exclusive tour of the property ahead of its opening.

Hyatt Privé

Before we review the property, a quick note that the hotel can be booked under the Hyatt Privé programme. Booking under the rate, you can receive the following benefits:

  • Third night complimentary
  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Early check-in and late check-out
  • One category room upgrade
  • $100 hotel credit for food & beverage or spa

Hyatt Privé’s unique feature is that it allows hotels to confirm room upgrades within 24 hours of booking. This sets it apart from other preferred partner programs. Of course, sometimes it needs your travel advisor to nudge the hotel… but that’s what we are here for 😉

In this instance, the opening offer confirms a guaranteed upgrade at the time of booking.

Location: Park Hyatt Marrakech

Park Hyatt Marrakech is located about a 15-20 mins cab from the busy Medina among other luxury hotels in Marrakech. The location is perfect for people who want to just sit back and relax away from the busy streets of Marrakech but easy enough to access and tour the city.

It’s next to other luxury properties in Marrakech such as the Mandarin Oriental Marrakech, Amanjena and Oberoi Marrakech.

Hotel Entrance: Park Hyatt Marrakech

As you pass through the main gates of the resort, the Park Hyatt Marrakech staff will warmly welcome you at the beautiful entrance. The drop-off area exudes luxury with floor-to-top marble, a key element of this resort. As far as grand entrances go, an entrance can’t be any grander than at the Park Hyatt Marrakech.

We then made our way into this beautiful long corridor laden with black marble with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the main pool at the end of the corridor. It is truly stunning! Our photos do not justify the sense of luxury as soon as you’re in the main lobby.

On either side of the corridor, there are sofas which make for a very cosy setting. It is a nice place to just hang around as you wait for your cab or car ride.

A separate reception area on the right side of the main lobby will handle the guest check-in process. This is where the concierge desk is also located. The whole design and vibe of this area is more akin to the living room of a beautiful mansion as opposed to the traditional check-in of a resort-style hotel. This will also help to keep away the crowds from the main lobby.

Room: Park Suite King Deluxe

Pavilion buildings are dotted around the resort, with villas either facing the center pool or the golf courses. A single pavilion unit includes a mix of Park Suites and Twin/King Room, which would be a perfect setup for families. You can connect the two rooms to form a ‘Two Bedroom Family Suite’.

The ground floor rooms have garden views whereas the first floor rooms have access to a large balcony and either pool or garden views. We would personally prefer the top-floor suites that have access to a spacious balcony with resort and Atlas Mountain views. These also feel a little bit more private than the Garden View Suites.

A pathway leads to the back of which is where the main entrance for the suites is from. The landscaping along the pathways was still a work in progress. We’d expect this to have beautiful lighting and a peaceful setting in the evenings.

Park Suite King Deluxe Floor Plan

I’ll save myself trying to explain the room layout. It’s much easier for me to provide the room layout for the Park Suite King Deluxe (Courtesy: Park Hyatt Marrakech website).

Living Room

The Suite opens up to a huge living room with a sofa at the centre that can easily accommodate 4-6 people. The Suite has a large TV in the living room and one in the bedroom. If you are traveling with family, this would be a perfect spot to hang out during the day or to order in-room dining. A four-seater dining table is also provided.

In our opinion, the beige tone in the living room with orange hues and wooden touches really works well. It leads to a very relaxing and calm setting. It would also be a perfect place to read a book or listen to some music.

As you’d expect in a proper suite, there is also a separate toilet and washbasin in the living room with black marble touches. It continues the vibe and theme observed across the resort, specifically in the lobby.

Just by the entrance of the living room, there is a little utilities cupboard which includes a minibar and Nespresso machine. The cupboard is designed with contemporary dark wood panelling in Berber design style. This design theme is also used around the TV cabinets and in the bedroom.

The living room leads into the bedroom, again with bedside tables and dark wood panelling with berber aesthetics. The bedroom’s neutral tones and grey tones mixed with dark wood looks very pleasing to the eye. I particularly appreciated the night lamp next to the bed which reminded me of Etihad’s iconic lamp in their Business Studio seats.

There’s an ottoman at the foot of the bed and a small single-seater sofa next to the balcony entrance. Enough sitting space in the bedroom given that there’s plenty of seating space in the living room.

The spacious balcony can be accessed from both the bedroom and the living room. The balcony is large enough for a lounger and a table-chair set. This particular room faced the main pool and is farther away from the pool than others, which meant it won’t be as noisy. Similar suites have the golf course and Atlas Mountain views as well.

Bathroom

Park Hyatt typically has gorgeous bathrooms and this one was met all our expectations from a Park Hyatt brand.

The bathroom has a single vanity unit with a separate make-up table, shower unit and toilet. The hotel has used black marble here as seen in several elements in the room and the rest of the resort.

The bathroom uses Le Labo toiletries which is one of our absolute favourite brand along with the likes of Aesop. In fact, we prefer these over the Diptyque toiletries in the Four Seasons hotels. These were full-bottle toiletries, no skimping here.

The bathtub is usually a centrepiece element in top-end Park Hyatt and Grand Hyatt hotels, as seen in our Park Hyatt Dubai and Grand Hyatt Jeju reviews. This one is one step above with a fantastic bathtub set in a beautiful alcove with floor-to-ceiling windows. It looked simply gorgeous !! However, I wonder if they plan to add some greenery as that would elevate the setting.

Overall, we were mightily pleased with this Park Suite King. It is spacious and all-round gorgeous. Top marks to the Park Hyatt Marrakech team.

Breakfast and Dinner: TFAYA – Brasserie Arabesque

The TFAYA Brasserie Arabesque restaurant will serve guests a breakfast buffet. This converts into a la carte lunch and dinner fine-dining restaurant. This restaurant will be serving Moroccan-Arabic cuisine by local celebrity chef Issam Rhachi. This includes vegetables from the resort’s on-site organic garden that we visited during our tour.

A second fine-dining restaurant is due to open soon. However, this has not been finalised as far as we are aware. We are interested in seeing what type of cuisine they ultimately choose. We would expect something more international and modern to balance the Morrocan-themed cuisine in TFAYA.

Due to its location outside the Medina, the hotel has limited food and beverage options. Having said that, there are some ultra-luxe hotels close by which have some excellent F&B options. One of our top recommendations would be Rivayat, an Indian restaurant by London-based Chef Rohit Ghai located in the stunning Oberoi Marrakech.

Drinks & Tea-time: The Living Room

Park Hyatt Marrakech also has a stunning lounge area, what they call the ‘The Living Room’. It has a superb bar that served us a refreshing cocktail after our long tour of the property. The restaurant will serve afternoon tea and tapas in the evening. The Living Room is right across the hotel’s reception, with a second lounge area closer to the main family pool.

The Spa at Park Hyatt Marrakech

When we visited the Park Hyatt Marrakech, still a few days away from their soft opening, they were adding finishing touches to their spa. The Spa is located on a completely separate unit on the opposite side of the villas next to the Pavilion Terrace and mail pool.

We had a chance to interact with their Spa Manager who gave a tour, a whooping 2,200 square meters facility with ten private treatment rooms. It also had a 20-metres indoor heated swimming pool and a whirlpool overlooking the golf course. The private treatment rooms will also provide a Moroccan hammam rituals experience.

The spa has a spacious post-treatment relaxation area with day beds as well as a separate hair & nails spa saloon.

Pavillion Terrace and Pool: Park Hyatt Marrakech

Most of the guests will spend their time at one of the two outdoor pools at Park Hyatt Marrakech.

The main family pool overlooks the Al-Madeen golf course. There are plenty of sun loungers dotted along the perimeter of the pool for guests to choose their perfect spot. Light bites can also be ordered at the pool.

There is a second smaller pool closer to the main restaurant which is adults-only and also heated. This isn’t really a lap pool but more for just relaxing and lounging. A great place to relax, read a book or take a snooze.

Personally, we see ourselves spending more time in this pool than the main pool. I had a more relaxing vibe and private setting.

Other Amenities: Kids Club and Fitness Centre

Whilst we don’t have photos to share, the resort will also have a spacious Kids Club for children from the ages of 4 to 12. This will include indoor and outdoor activities.

In addition, the resort will also have a spacious Fitness Centre located in the Spa building. This will be open 24/7 for in-house guests and equipped with equipment by Technogym.

Conclusion

We were thrilled to have a first look at the soon-to-open Park Hyatt Marrakech. It gave us an opportunity to take a detailed look at the property before guests arrive. Thanks to the Park Hyatt Marrakech team for providing us with this opportunity. It also gave us a chance to think about which of our clients this property will really work well for.

So to answer the main question….who is Park Hyatt Marrakech for?

  • Guests who want a relaxing holiday away from the chaos of Medina with pool access and spa facilities, with the occasional trip to the touristy sights of Marrakech
  • If a 20-25 mins cab ride to the Medina doesn’t bother you, or if you’re not the type of guest who wants to dip in and out of the hotel multiple times a day during your trip, then this hotel may be a good option for you.”
  • Guests who want to enjoy a round or two of golf, then this would be the perfect hotel
  • Hyatt loyalists who have a strong preference for Hyatt hotels and want to continue earning their World of Hyatt points, as there is no other alternative for Hyatt fanboys (and girls) in Marrakech

Which type of guests will Park Hyatt Marrakech potentially not work for?

  • If you are visiting Marrakech for the first time and on a very tight schedule, this hotel might not work for you due to the added hassle of travelling to the Medina and back
  • If you want to spend most of your holiday exploring the sights and culture of Marrakech, then you might find the location of the hotel bothersome
  • If you are looking for a instagrammy typical Marrakech hotel with riad vibes and strong Berber architecture, then this might not work for you as it’s more modern with hints of local influence in its design
  • If you’re looking for a more private and intimate hotel experience with fewer rooms, then consider staying at a riad in the Medina
