Hotel: Park Hyatt Dubai / Date: August 2021 (3 nights) / Program: Hyatt Prive
Park Hyatt Dubai is located in the Dubai Creek Resort, along the banks of the Dubai Creek. It also overlooks Downtown Dubai. It has c. 230 rooms including several suites, and a variety of food & beverage options.
Hyatt Privé
We stayed here for three nights. As it was booked under the Hyatt Privé programme, we received the following benefits:
- Third night complimentary
- Complimentary breakfast for two
- Early check-in and late check-out
- One category room upgrade
- $100 hotel credit for food & beverage or spa
Hyatt Privé’s unique feature is that it allows hotels to confirm room upgrades within 24 hours of booking setting it apart from other preferred partner programs. Of course, sometimes it needs your travel advisor to nudge the hotel… but that’s what we are here for 😉
Location: Park Hyatt Dubai
Park Hyatt Dubai is not located among other luxury hotels in Dubai. Most luxury hotels are mainly located along Sheik Zayed Road, Dubai Marina, or Palm Island. The location is odd so it might work for some but not for others. The location works for you if you are staying for a short stopover before continuing to your final destination from Dubai Airport. If you have been to Dubai before and just want to find a place to unwind yourself, this is perfect!
If you are a first-time visitor to Dubai, this might not be the best place to stay. You may want to spend most of your time in shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions. In that case, the location of Park Hyatt Dubai might be slightly inconvenient.
It worked for us because we landed at DXB early morning from London Heathrow and reached the hotel in a short cab ride. You can either take a cab directly from the airport or take the Dubai Metro for two stops and take a cab from there. The latter is only a good option if you have limited luggage.
Check-in: Park Hyatt Dubai
Check-in was relatively quick as at that time in the morning, there were not many guests checking in. A magnificent chandelier serves as the centerpiece of the stunning circular building that houses the lobby. Not very grand by Dubai standards but yet very classy in my view.
The front desk manager checked us in and explained to us all the Hyatt Privé benefits included in the rate. We also had no issues checking in this early which is not surprising. This is a really valuable Hyatt Privé benefit. Of course, it cannot be guaranteed, but we have a very high success rate.
Room: King Bed Skyline View
We were upgraded from a King room to a King Skyline View room. There wasn’t much difference in terms of room size but this room was much better located and had good views of the Creek and Dubai skyline. We were more interested in being able to check in early than having to wait another few hours for a better room to become available. Overall, we were quite happy with the room.
Bathroom
Entering the bedroom, the bathroom was located to the right. The center-piece of the bathroom was this beautiful freestanding bathtub. The bathroom also contained a double vanity with wood finishings which overlooked the rest of the room. The photo below shows how the wooden windows with intricate carvings can close to separate the bathroom from the bedroom. This added a classy touch to this spacious bathroom.
The wardrobe and luggage rack was also located in the bathroom, right next to the separate shower unit and toilet.
The bedroom was spacious at 52 square metres and included a King-sized bed with an ottoman, two single comfy chairs and a separate writing desk. Next to the writing desk and along the TV unit was also a small coffee area thth included the usual coffee and tea selections including a Nespresso unit. The mini bar and alcohol selection was behind a hidden unit next to the bed.
The balcony had good views of the creek and the Dubai Skyline. We did spend some time here but only sparingly as Dubai was still very hot and humid in the last week of August!
Breakfast: Brasserie du Park
Breakfast was served at the Brasserie du Park restaurant. Their breakfast was buffet service and included several options via an a la carte menu. The buffet served a wide range of high-quality options in a small area. There was also a hot food station that included the usual hot buffet item. It also included a selection of Indian items.
The coffee was fantastic and so were the pastries, including a strange-looking black charcoal croissant.
Overall, we were quite happy with the breakfast as the food generally tasted very good. That’s a lot more important than huge buffet spreads where items are not replenished or food tastes mediocre. Top marks to Park Hyatt Dubai.
The breakfast a la carte menu is available here on the hotel’s website.
Restaurant: The Thai Kitchen
On our first night at the hotel, we decided to go to the Thai restaurant that received stellar reviews online. I don’t think the management spent much time thinking of a name for this restaurant…
The restaurant and service were fantastic, befitting a restaurant you expect to find at a Park Hyatt in a city that is known for great restaurant options. The starters and main courses were amazing, however the highlight was the Red Ruby dessert. It was so good that we ordered two portions.
We highly recommend dining at this restaurant. In fact, the next time we are in Dubai, we are planning to visit here, just to have the dessert again if not anything else.
This was a fantastic use of the $100 dining credit we received as part of the Hyatt Prive booking.
The menu for the restaurant can be found here.
Whilst we didn’t get to try any other restaurant in the hotel, we did visit the Noepe bar for drinks one of the evening. It has a great range of cocktails and drinks and a fairly chilled out vibe. We had a few drinks here before heading to our dinner reservation at Jumeriah Al Qasr hotel.
Family Pool & Lagoon Beach: Park Hyatt Dubai
Park Hyatt Dubai features a stunning 25-meter swimming pool with palm trees, one in each corner surrounded by lush tropical gardens. This a family pool and there was a dedicated area for children.
This was a great place to spend time in the Dubai summer heat, especially if you have children.
Where Park Hyatt really falls behind competitors is the lack of a proper beach. Almost all luxury hotels along Dubai Marina and Palm will have beach access which draws the clients looking for a beachy getaway. They have sort-of made up for this with the artificial lagoon beach called the Lagoon Beach by Twiggy. This is sort of a beach club accessible to everyone with a small section dedicated for hotel guests.
I did spend quite a bit of time here as this is an adults-only section and was much quieter than the family pool. The staff was very attentive and provided cold water service and helped with towels etc. The views of the Dubai skyline are fantastic, especially on a clear day.
Twiggy by La Cantine, the beach club does attract the insta-influencer type crowds, so if that’s your thing then this is the place to be. It isn’t for me, but I still did enjoy some quiet time here relaxing by the lagoon and reading my book.
In my view, where this hotel shines is in the communal areas of the hotel. Beautiful lush green gardens, an amazing life-sized chess board and Greek-style buildings sets it apart from the usual cookie-cutter style resorts. There are lots of places to take some amazing Insta-grammy photos to make people a bit envious.
Conclusion
Park Hyatt Dubai remains one of my more memorable stays. I am not able to pinpoint to anything specific. I think it’s a combination of its out-of-the-way location, the good service, spacious rooms and the Greek-vibes. All put together, just worked for us.
As I said earlier, it’s probably not for first-time visitors to Dubai. It certainly is for repeat visitors who just want to relax and go into the city every now and then.
