Introduction
We spent three nights at Andaz Prague, staying in a Deluxe King Room booked through Hyatt Privé. As first-time visitors to Prague, we found the hotel to be a strong base for exploring the city while offering a noticeably more design-focused experience than many Hyatt properties we have stayed at.
Andaz Prague occupies an interesting position within Prague’s luxury hotel market. It delivers the modern lifestyle approach that the Andaz brand is known for, with contemporary interiors and generally good service. At the same time, it does not attempt to compete directly with traditional luxury hotels such as Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental when it comes to service rituals and amenities.
It was clear that a considerable amount of effort had gone into the architecture and design. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was not a standard Andaz or a typical Hyatt hotel. The incorporation of local Czech references felt a step above what we normally expect from the brand.
Given that Andaz Prague only opened relatively recently, the hotel felt fresh, modern and carefully considered throughout. Before we had even reached our room, we already had the sense that this stay would be better than a typical Hyatt stay. Over the following three nights that initial impression largely proved correct.

Location
Andaz Prague is located just outside Prague’s Old Town, south of the Vltava River. For leisure travellers, particularly those visiting Prague for the first time, we found the location to be excellent.
The hotel sits close enough to the main attractions to reach them easily on foot, while remaining outside the busiest and most crowded parts of the city. Old Town Square and the Prague Astronomical Clock are around ten minutes walk, while Charles Bridge can be reached in approximately fifteen minutes. Prague Castle is further away at around thirty to forty minutes walk. Prague is an exceptionally walkable city and we found walking to be the best way to experience it.
The airport is roughly thirty to thirty-five minutes away by car, while Prague’s main railway station is only around ten minutes away.
For travellers comparing luxury hotels in Prague, BoHo Prague Hotel is located nearby. Both Fairmont Prague and Four Seasons Prague can be reached within a fifteen-minute walk towards the river.
Arrival & Check-in
We arrived shortly after midnight following a late flight. Unfortunately, there was nobody immediately visible at the entrance or in the lobby, so we hauled our own luggage inside.
Given our late night arrival, the photos below are from the next day in bright sunlight!

Fortunately, this proved to be the only negative aspect of our arrival experience. Given the extremely late arrival time, we suspect this was more an exception than a reflection of normal service levels. This impression was reinforced during checkout when the bellboy team proactively assisted us with our luggage.
The hotel itself felt fresh and modern, helped by the fact that it had only opened relatively recently. The lobby is compact but stylish, with several adjoining lounge and seating areas that felt cosy and comfortable. These spaces worked well as informal meeting points or simply somewhere to relax before heading out into the city.

Check-in itself was quick and efficient, helped by the fact that the hotel was very quiet at that hour. We were offered water and coffee from the nearby hydration station before heading up to our room.
Room – Deluxe Room
Prior to arrival, we received a complimentary upgrade from a Deluxe Room to a Deluxe King Room, which we would strongly recommend as the minimum category for two adults. The hotel’s standard rooms are relatively compact and we would suggest families consider one of the Junior Suite or Suite categories instead.
One of the first things we noticed upon reaching our floor was the quality of the corridor design. Bright blue carpets, decorative sculptures integrated into the walls and brass detailing around the room numbers and doorbells created a far more distinctive impression than we typically associate with the brand. Even the lift has a beautiful motif design.

Bedroom
The room opened into a narrow entrance corridor that doubled as an open wardrobe area. Storage was excellent, with a separate enclosed wardrobe containing a proper iron and ironing board, and a dedicated compartment for the in-room safe.
The coffee station was well equipped with a Nespresso machine, tea selection and glassware. The complimentary minibar was simple but appreciated, offering bottled water, local juices and soft drinks.

The bedroom itself felt spacious and well considered. A king bed with a striking blue velvet headboard formed the centrepiece, while a small sofa and dining table added useful living space. On arrival, a welcome amenity of fruit and wine had been thoughtfully arranged on the table.

Our room featured two large windows overlooking parts of the city and nearby monastery buildings. Overall, we were very satisfied with both the size of the room and the quality of the furnishings.

What stood out most, however, were the local design references integrated throughout the room. Rather than feeling interchangeable with any other Andaz worldwide, the room constantly reminded us that we were in Prague.
The bohemian lion motif, representing the Czech Republic’s national animal, appeared in multiple places including above the bed and within the dining table design. The bathroom mirror featured a depiction of Prague’s famous Golem, while brass hands were used as curtain holders. These details added character without feeling forced and helped create a stronger sense of place than we often encounter at international hotel brands.

One area worth noting is noise. Our room faced the tram lines on the side of the building. Even on the fourth floor we could hear the hum and occasional ringing of passing trams. Light sleepers may wish to request a room facing the main entrance and ideally on a higher floor.
Bathroom
The bathroom continued the room’s strong design theme with extensive brass finishes throughout, extending from the vanity area to the shower and toilet. Although there was only a single vanity, the overall quality of the fittings was impressive.

The bathroom featured Hans Grohe fixtures throughout, with excellent shower pressure. Byredo supplied the toiletries; one of our preferred luxury hotel amenity brands.

The quality of the materials and fittings were top notch. The bathroom far exceeded what we would typically expect from an Andaz property, signalling an investment in the guest room experience.
Dining
Breakfast
Breakfast was served at ZEM Restaurant, overlooking the hotel’s main entrance with additional outdoor seating available during warmer months. It was included through our Hyatt Privé booking benefit.

The offering consisted of a continental buffet alongside a small à la carte menu. Buffet items included typical items – pastries, breads, cereals, salads and smoothies. The A la carte menu offered a selection of egg dishes, porridge, avocado toast and French toast.

Across our three mornings, we sampled several different dishes from the menu. While everything was perfectly adequate, breakfast ultimately proved to be the weakest aspect of our stay. The selection felt somewhat limited and by the second or third morning we found ourselves wishing for greater variety.
Service was consistently efficient and friendly, and we encountered no issues. The experience was entirely acceptable and aligned with the lifestyle luxury positioning of the Andaz brand, but it lacked the memorable qualities that distinguish the strongest luxury hotel breakfasts.
If there was one area of the hotel we would most like to see improved, it would be breakfast.
Restaurants & Bars
Although we did not dine at the hotel for lunch or dinner, we did spend time at MEZ Bar.
The bar is located near the entrance and provided a pleasant setting for evening drinks. We particularly enjoyed the cocktail selection, which featured several creative flavour combinations and a few options that felt distinct from the standard hotel bar menu.
Service was attentive throughout our visits and we would happily return for drinks on a future stay.

Gym
The hotel features a well-equipped fitness centre in the basement with a good variety of equipment suitable for most workouts. During our visits the gym was almost empty, although the hotel generally appeared to be operating at relatively low occupancy.
One downside is the absence of a swimming pool. Travellers who place significant value on pool facilities may find this disappointing, particularly given the hotel’s positioning within Prague’s luxury hotel market.

Spa & Wellness
Located adjacent to the gym is the hotel’s wellness area.
Although we did not receive any treatments, we visited the spa facilities and found a range of sauna and steam room options available. Interestingly, we did not encounter a spa attendant during our visit, although the facilities themselves appeared well maintained.
The wellness area provides a useful place to relax after a day spent exploring the city.

Service
Service throughout our stay was generally positive. The staff were friendly and efficient, had already processed our room upgrade before arrival, and handled every request professionally.
The most noticeable omission was the lack of turndown service. Though expected at many traditional luxury hotels, this sits less naturally within the lifestyle luxury positioning of the Andaz brand.
Overall, service was good and aligned with our expectations for the property. Guests expecting Four Seasons levels of personalisation may find the experience more limited, but for a lifestyle luxury hotel the service offering felt appropriate and consistent.
Who Is This Hotel Best For?
Andaz Prague suits couples and first-time leisure travellers particularly well. The location allows easy access to the city’s old town while remaining slightly removed from the busiest tourist areas.
Design-conscious travellers will likely appreciate the hotel’s architecture, interiors and local artistic references.
Families can certainly stay here, although we would recommend booking at least a Junior Suite or larger accommodation category if travelling with children.
Travellers seeking extensive facilities, resort-style amenities or highly personalised luxury service may find better alternatives elsewhere in Prague.
Conclusion
Andaz Prague exceeded our expectations in several important areas. The design is thoughtful and distinctive, the rooms are well equipped, and the property successfully incorporates local culture into the guest experience without becoming overly thematic.
The hotel never felt like a generic international chain property. From the public spaces to the guest rooms, there was a genuine effort to create a stronger connection with Prague through architecture, artwork and design details. Combined with the quality of the interiors, this resulted in a stay that felt a step above what we would normally expect from the Andaz brand.
The Deluxe King Room represented a significant step up from the base category and would be our minimum recommendation for most guests. We also appreciated the hotel’s location, which strikes an excellent balance between convenience and tranquillity.
Areas for improvement include breakfast variety, the lack of a swimming pool and occasional noise from tram-facing rooms.
Despite these shortcomings, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. For travellers looking for a modern luxury hotel in Prague with strong design credentials, a genuine sense of place and an excellent location for exploring the city, Andaz Prague is easy to recommend.
